Christmas Tree Memories

The tree is up!

We decorated it to the sounds of Stan Walker on Saturday at the kid's dad's house...as we're outta here in a week!! {Packing, packing...}

We also took a trip to the shops to thoughtfully pick out a decoration that best reflects something from this year. It was a laugh holding up the decorations in the shops and describing how each could potentially symbolise our year. In the end though the kids were all in agreement that this little ole house was to be THE one:

Yep after a year of wanting to, we are finally making the move out of our funny old house which has been home for 2 & a bit years.

"You need to be moving if you want God to show you which way to go" Joyce Meyer

There are lots of reasons I could conjure as to why we're moving from here, but more than all that I just really feel God thing and that He is leading us to a new day in our lives!!
"We didn't fight for this land; we didn't work for it-it was a gift! You gave it, smiling as you gave it, delighting as you gave it."
Ps 44:3

Back to Christmas decorations though.....& SEE hanging from the tree our special decorations from years gone by too:

On the right half up is the 'Tiara the cat' decoration we picked out in 2007.
Tiara was our super-lovely Scottish fold x Persian cat who very sadly died that year. It was the kids first real encounter with death, and they were distraught. There was a flood of tears when we held a funeral for her under a pretty tree in the garden. It was therefore amazing to spot a decoration that looked just like her that year!

Higher up to the left is 'The Bubble' which I was really quite emotional to find after a year like none other in 2008. The bubble represents an incredible promise given to me; one that my children would be protected in the battlefield that our marriage breakdown unfortunately was, and that they would come through the whole ordeal unscathed. God has been so faithful.

Our cupcake in 2009 is a reminder of the year the kids got busy in the kitchen; cookin up a storm!! (inspired by Masterchef on TV)

And then last year we choose the 'Gold Swirl' Here's a bit about that from my post 'Sunday Stories'

"... ....during worship we were standing singing; 'From the inside out Lord my soul cries out..", my littlest boy in front of me raising his hands in mine, when I saw (a picture!) of gold gently flowing from heaven and swirling over each of my children as they stood in the presence of God. Joyed to then see little bits of that gold falling and solidifying in each of them.
I got it, I believe God was showing me that as I bring my children to His house and an atmosphere of His presence, He is forming something solid and of value within their lives and hearts: Gold!!

#Iamthankful!
These decorations and the memories & promises each hold are fast becoming a family treasure!! It was beautiful unwrapping them all from their box and remembering when...
